Projects
• Accommodation
Drs. Arnold Huijgen is working at a project which can be described as ‘Divine accommodation in Calvin’s theology’. The aim is a doctorate at the Apeldoorn Theological University (NL). What Calvin means by the accommodation of God, for example in the laws of the Old Testament and in the coming of Christ, is subject of the research of drs. A. Huijgen. Likewise will be searched to what extent Calvin underwent influence of rhetoric, the Church Fathers and the Humanists.
• Letters from and to Calvin
At the Theological Faculty of the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam the edition of the letters from and to John Calvin is elaborated, part of the new critical edition of the writings of Calvin. The leader of this long-term project is prof. dr. C.P.M. Burger. This edition will include more than 3000 letters in Latin and in French. The letters will be published with introductions, annotations and critical apparatus. The first volume of this correspondence contains the letters from 1530 till September 1538 and was published in 2005 by Librairie Droz in Geneva.
